www.e-help.comPage 3 of great quit smoking tips, with cartoons and animations. Web page by Peter Migaly, M.D.

We changed our perception about ourselves when we started to smoke. We may have to change it again, and this is what "The Smokeless Side" cartoon book can help us with. It will also help us with the difficult situation of what to do when we try to quit and someone tries to pull us back with an offer, or with a comment. It can help us to picture things differently, or to take the edge off the pressure (and our irritation) with a good sense of humor. (See chapter 9: "the top 10 reasons to say no to cigarettes".)

And now let’s get some real incentives - $$$

a briefcase full of $100's

Wow, that is certainly worth not smoking for! - Hmmm…and we can even get more? Let’s just count it: a little over 2 packs a day for 50 years (at $2.50 per pack) is $100,000. Putting that into a bank with 8% compounded interest is going to yield over a Million Dollars…What??? - We all can be millionaires?!… Yes!!! - This is definitely more then an incentive, this is the grand prize (with bonus health) that each of us can have. Even for us less fortunate, who have already smoked for decades that would be still over $10,000 that we can save every 10 years on each pack of cigarettes (or to be more precise it is exactly $14,276.51). That is a brand new car for free - all paid off! This is still a good enough incentive to quit. This is another fact that tobacco companies don’t want us to know! Now, this part (of how much we can save) is certainly enjoyable, but it is not a joke. It feels good to know that we can be millionaires. We deserve a reward for not smoking.

This is what a pack of cigarettes worth would yield with 8% compounded interest:

1 pack at $2.50 in 50 years = $565,450.49

1 pack (Dunhill) at $3.35 in 50 years = $757,703.66

1 pack (Camel in Canada) at $6.50 in 50 years = $1,470,171.27
