The following cartoons, (but not the text) are from "The Smokeless Side" book:
I was working
hard
to
satisfy your curiosity and answer the questions you were looking for. No
matter how you got here
,
I believe you will enjoy this web page. People say laughter is the best
medicine. Through humor and cartoons we can start seeing the world from
a whole new different perspective. In this case we can take a look at and
see
the lighter side
of our life. You may be surprised, but these pages may help you to start
seeing other positive changes in your life.
Yes, you will hear about how you and your family can become a self-made $$$ millionaire. (This secret will be revealed to you in a moment). Surprised? Well, trust me and trust your eyes as you keep reading.

Do
you remember from our childhood the "golden rule" of not taking
someone else’s toy away? What great advice that was! As grownups how many
times we watched young parents dealing with the situation when their kids
grabbed their necklace, a "dangerous kitchen utensil" or another
"forbidden toy". If it was taken away, the kids burst into tears.
But what happened if other more interesting toys were given to the kids?
They went for it - at least for most of the time. But - as for grownups
- how about this golden rule in other area of our lives? Like relationships,
or smoking? Well, whether we smoke or not we still protect our toys (our
privacy) and react quite the same. (If you don’t smoke, you are
a parent or a teacher click here.)
For those of us who smoke,
a cigarette is our toy that we defend. Oh! - Getting something instead,
not just professional help but $$$ - and becoming a millionaire? That certainly
would get our attention. But who would be fool enough to help us to that
extent? Well, be patient, the details are coming. Just ask yourself: would
you like to quit if you could… Over 90% of us smokers do want to quit,
but we believe that we can’t as we already tried and relapsed. We tend
to remember this as a failure, a lost struggle, and we just procrastinate.

Well the first week is
the toughest one, but it is easier with some help and support. Knowing
our toughest moments can help. Like knowing when do we crave for cigarettes
the most? For example: getting up in the morning may be a difficult time,
but is morning exercise associated with smoking for you? Or how about getting
into the shower right immediately after waking up? Drinking coffee and
smoking is another frequent association... can you switch to orange juice?
Driving, phone calls, watching TV in your favorite chair... you may have
to do some rearranging. You want smoking to be very inconvenient to you.
And do not keep supplies. Initially, if you wish you can substitute cigarettes
with sugarless gums, breath savers, or even chew carrots instead. You can
keep your hands and your mind busy. ![]()
We changed our perception about ourselves when we started to smoke. We may have to change it again, and this is what "The Smokeless Side" cartoon book can help us with. It will also help us with the difficult situation of what to do when we try to quit and someone tries to pull us back with an offer, or with a comment. It can help us to picture things differently, or to take the edge off the pressure (and our irritation) with a good sense of humor. (See chapter 9: "the top 10 reasons to say no to cigarettes".)
And now let’s get some real incentives - $$$ or go back to the top page
Wow, that is certainly worth
not smoking for! - Hmmm…and we can even get more? Let’s just count it:
a little over 2 packs a day for 50 years (at $2.50 per pack) is $100,000.
Putting that into a bank with 8% compounded interest is going to yield
over a Million Dollars…What??? - We all can be millionaires?!… Yes!!! -
This is definitely more then an incentive, this is the grand prize (with
bonus health) that each of us can have. Even for us less fortunate, who
have already smoked for decades that would be still over $10,000 that we
can save every 10 years on each pack of cigarettes (or to be more precise
it is exactly $14,276.51). That is a brand new car for free - all paid
off! This is still a good enough incentive to quit. This is another fact
that tobacco companies don’t want us to know! Now, this part (of how much
we can save) is certainly enjoyable, but it is not a joke. It feels good
to know that we can be millionaires. We deserve a reward for not smoking.![]()
This is another fact that tobacco companies don't want us to know!
This is what a pack of cigarettes worth would yield with 8% compounded interest:
1 pack at $2.50 in 50 years = $565,450.49
1 pack (Dunhill) at $3.35 in 50 years = $757,703.66
1 pack (Camel in Canada) at $6.50 in 50 years = $1,470,171.27

Transformation:
"The vacation you save, the vacation you earn" ![]()
You deserve plenty of rewards, and joy.
Studies have shown (DiClemente et al), that as we progress in our decision to quit smoking, with each stage we achieve we double our chances to quit successfully. These stages of quitting are precontemplation, contemplation, decision-making, action, and maintenance. My intention with this web page and my book was to work out a way to help people to quit smoking. Motivating people in a way that is also enjoyable can lead to better results. There is no doubt about it - we have to quit and stay away from cigarettes. Now, how can we best help ourselves to achieve that? By reading this page you have showed your interest and commitment. You may want to read my book and follow the suggestions in the introduction. To own a copy of

"The Smokeless Side"
is a wonderful gentle and non-threatening way to move the smoker who is
contemplating quitting into the next stage of action. The humor allows
one to consider the risks of smoking objectively. As a former teacher I
can see that this would be a very good book for parents to share with their
adolescent children.
Carol Eggers, RN, MSN, Nurse Practitioner, APT Foundation, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut

book that will motivate some people. A creative and compelling project!!
Good work."
Robert S. Abernethy III, M.D. Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts
«"The Smokeless
Side" is an excellent motivational book to quit smoking. I can also
strongly recommend it for smoking prevention. It is fun to read.»

Those of us who don’t smoke also deserve a reward. We too deserve to
become a self-made $ millionaire. We also owe to our children to teach
them to stay away from cigarettes. I’m grateful to my parents who taught
me and protected me from becoming a smoker, as I was watching their struggle
to quit. I wish I had the knowledge that I have know. This web page and
my book "The Smokeless Side" can be a valuable resource for smoking
prevention. This book uses humor to counteract cigarette advertisement,
and instead of frustration it offers humor to deal with peer pressure.
As a teacher or parent you are encouraged to discuss the different ideas
from the book with your kids, and have them rehearse these topics. As a
non-smoker you will also enjoy this web page, the cartoons and the cartoon
book. We can have more fun in our life without cigarettes. ![]()
